CPR as a Smart Access to Political Decision-Makers

Updated: Oct 19, 2023

Writing in the Journal of Management Studies, the business scholar Onna Malou van den Broek explores how CSR can function as an access good for corporate interaction with political decision-makers. Having analyzed attitudes in different EU institutions, she finds that, while CSR remains a contested concept, firms could use their CSR activities as a useful point of entry into political dialogue. In analogy to her findings, it is possible to view CPR as source of access to the political process. CPR, then, need not be only a good in itself but can have instrumental uses, bolstering the notion that political sustainability is also a business case.
