Founded in 2023, the mission of this initiative is to speak up against extremism, bigotry and political violence in its members’ personal and professional networks. There are around 600 so-called ILU Messengers, ranging from CEOs to everyday Idahoans, who are committed to civic engagement, respect towards the democratic process and constructive discourse.

On 7 September 2023, @idleadersunited posted on X/Twitter:

„Known as a business-friendly state, Idaho boasts abundant opportunities for local entrepreneurs and external investment. However, the rise of extremist activity and rhetoric threatens Idaho's economic prosperity.“

Here’s what Courtney Liddiard, CEO of Ball Ventures and founding member of ILU, says about his motivation on the group’s website:

“People and organizations who sow hate and discord threaten the very foundations of our constitutional republic. Businesses can’t operate effectively when extremism takes hold in our communities.”
