Allstate
The American insurance company Allstate has teamed up with the Aspen Institute and the educational non-profit Facing History and Ourselves to initiate The Better Arguments Project. Designed to counter rising polarization, the project aims to improve debating culture in three core aspects: understanding historical contexts, using emotional intelligence, and recognizing power dynamics between the different sides in an argument. This is how the initiative describes itself:
The Better Arguments Project is a national civic initiative created to help bridge divides – not by papering over those divides but by helping people have Better Arguments. In this sense, arguments don’t have to drive us apart. Better Arguments can bring us together.
